It's not a common name for Malay...
Maybe his bad sides of history are more distinguished than his good sides... not that his really bad anyway... he's just not famous for being good and people tend to give names that link with goodness and heroism so to say...
Like after what Hitler, Stalin, Lenin did... nobody ever give their child the same name, of course except for those who worshipped these guys... we call this after-effect...
I didn't mean to say that Muawiyah was the same as these guys, it's just the after-effect, that's all...
Maybe nama tu ada di kalangan orang2 Arab, cuma kita sahaja yang tak tahu, huhu...

Anyway, kalau maksudnya baik, there's nothing wrong with it...
