Graft

'Okay comment on the scar.'

'The scar is about 8cm long, healed with secondary intention.'

'Do you think this scar healed by secondary intention? I mean, if this scar was on your skin... you consider it ugly?'

'Err... but it doesn't look like a normal skin.'

'Of course it wasn't going to look like a normal skin after we cut it. If Allah allow us to do incision and no scar... I think all the doctors will claim themselves as God.'

And everybody was silent. Complete silent. Yes. Sometimes, doctors need to know when is their limit. Even by your medicine or your successful surgery help people. It isn't going to happen if Allah never allow so.

If you ever read about arthroplasty. A surgery to replace the destroyed joint with a plastic one. Or I called it a 'fake' joint. I still remember one of my collegue asked the doctor (Dr. Ahmed Rizq) when we were in Orthopaedics round, why does arthroplasty only withstand 5-15 years and we need to do another replacement?

And the doctor simply replied, because it's a man-made and not what Allah has created.

Subhanalllah!

Just like a vascular surgery. I mean, if you asked about a bypass graft of an artery using the saphenous vein graft or a synthetic graft, which of which has better prognosis? Of course the answer will the the saphenous vein graft. Why?

Because Allah created the saphenous to allow blood flow in it with some modification than an artery. Can human make an artery? Heh. Allah has mention in the Holy Quran, even if they tried to create a fly, they're unable to do so.

Nonetheless the specific structure of the best creation, the human being. I don't really understand why there're people in medical field who still don't believe in God or even don't believe in Allah. Maybe they think they can do everything. Heh. Tell me, whats the treatment of post-operative ileus?

Nothing. Nothing except pray!

So dear doctors, will you remember that Allah is the Healer of everything? And will you please, don't rush your patients to put synthetics in their body replacing the 'still-can-be-used' thing that Allah has created for them.
